MISSION

Resh Institute for Educational Leadership partners with educators, family service providers, parenting organizations, and communities to strengthen educational outcomes through advocacy and coaching-centered leadership and skill development. The Institute provides individualized coaching for families and parents, alongside professional learning and strategic consultation for educators and providers. Through research-informed frameworks and compassionate, practical guidance, Resh Institute builds clarity, confidence, and capacity—supporting inclusive practices, family leadership, and equity-driven decision-making that create meaningful, sustainable change for learners, families, and communities.

Special Education, Early Identification & Advocacy

• Provides expert consultation leveraging the RRIIPP© framework and IDEA‑aligned Special Education Plans, including IFSPs, IEPs, 504 Plans, gifted identification, inclusion supports, and Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) determinations across early childhood through high school.
• Designs and strengthens early identification systems that promote appropriate, timely, and equitable referrals—reducing delayed, inappropriate, or biased pathways into special education.
• Models effective collaboration, communication, and shared problem‑solving to improve relationships among teachers, service providers, administrators, and parents.
• Offers student and learner‑centered advocacy, including support through due process, family meetings, and school‑based problem‑solving structures.
• Conducts equity‑focused analyses to identify disproportionality, access gaps, and systemic barriers affecting students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
• Provides sliding scale advocacy and education consulting for families needing support navigating complex systems.
• Delivers free advocacy and education consulting for qualifying families through SEE US: Special Education Excellence for Underserved Students, ensuring access to high‑quality support with limited income.

Parent Education & Partnership Models

• Delivers scalable parent education programs through multiple formats:
  • Group training that builds shared understanding and peer‑to‑peer support
  • Individual coaching focused on well‑being, job readiness, and effective school relationships

• Hybrid and cohort‑based models using handouts, videos, role plays, and guided discussions

• Supports early identification and advocacy for appropriate services, placement decisions, and smooth kindergarten transitions for young learners.
• Conducts observations of student strengths and needs, followed by clear reports and consultation debriefings for families and staff.
• Provides school- and home-based recommendations that build independence, executive function, and readiness skills for early learners.
• Designs and implements early learning models aligned with compliance and practices such as, Maryland Child Care Licensing requirements, Maryland EXCELS Quality Rating & Improvement System (Levels 1–5), and Montessori-informed practice (training-aligned, not accreditation-dependent)
• Develops early intervention–forward childcare and preschool frameworks that integrate developmental supports into daily routines.
• Adapts models for public, nonprofit, community-based, and faith-affiliated centers, ensuring cultural and contextual fit

Parent Education Coaching

• Provides individualized coaching to help parents navigate special education, understand IDEA-aligned processes, and advocate confidently for their child’s needs.
• Supports parents in building life skills, including organization, communication, emotional regulation, and effective home–school collaboration.
• Offers guidance on work–life balance, stress management, and routines that strengthen family well-being and support consistent learning at home.
• Helps families develop school-ready habits and executive function strategies that promote independence and smoother daily routines for children.
• Uses culturally responsive, strengths-based approaches to support parents in goal-setting, problem-solving, and decision-making related to their child’s education and development.
• Provides coaching aligned with evidence and research-based resources such as P.A.R.E.N.T.S. Life Skills, Literacy & Leadership© and Educational Leadership for Parents©, integrating practical tools for parenting, self-advocacy, and family leadership.
• Offers flexible delivery options—including virtual, in-person, and hybrid sessions—to meet the needs of diverse families and caregivers.

Professional Development & Staff Training

• Provides professional learning for educators, administrators, and staff in:
  • Child development, inclusion, and differentiated support
  • Trauma-informed and developmentally responsive practice
  • Montessori-informed implementation within regulated environments

• Conducts staff observations and environment assessments to guide targeted professional development and instructional improvement.
• Develops microcredentials and competency-based training pathways for early childhood educators, paraprofessionals, and PreK–12 staff.
• Offers hybrid delivery options—in-person, virtual, and asynchronous—to meet the needs of schools, districts, and community organizations.

Research, Writing & Publishing

• Translates complex concepts in special education, child development, equity, and instructional practice into accessible language that empowers families and equips educators without sacrificing accuracy or nuance.
• Synthesizes complex educational, behavioral, and demographic data into clear, actionable insights that strengthen outcomes for students with special learning needs, their families, and the educators who support them.
• Produces clear, compelling, and audience-specific content—including research briefs, family-friendly guides, professional development materials, program evaluations, and policy summaries—tailored for parents, teachers, school leaders, and community partners.
• Coordinates with designers, editors, and mission-aligned partners to deliver high-quality digital and print publications that elevate research findings, support parent advocacy, and enhance professional learning.

Representative Work & Publications

• Develops equity-centered research and narrative frameworks showcased in Pour the Water: Transformative Solutions for Equity & Justice in Special Education©, a flagship publication advancing systemic change for underserved learners.

• Creates accessible, research-informed parent education materials such as Educational Leadership for Parents©, designed to strengthen families’ ability to navigate school systems, advocate effectively, and support learning at home.
• Designs and publishes practical, skills-based curricula like P.A.R.E.N.T.S. Life Skills, Literacy & Leadership©, supporting adult learners, caregivers, and community leaders through structured, culturally responsive content.

• Supports licensing readiness, compliance audits, and documentation systems for PreK–12 programs, early childhood centers, and community-based organizations, ensuring alignment with state and federal requirements, including IDEA, ADA, and local quality standards.
• Conducts Quality Matters (QM) Higher Education and K–12 course reviews, strengthening online and hybrid learning experiences for educators, parents, and adult learners through research-aligned instructional design and accessibility best practices.
• Designs, implements, and reports on grant-funded programs that advance equitable outcomes for students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and underserved families—integrating research, stakeholder voice, and measurable impact.

• Builds continuous improvement systems tied to clear, measurable outcomes, helping schools, districts, and nonprofits use data cycles to refine instruction, strengthen family engagement, and improve program quality across PreK–12 settings.

Interdisciplinary Expertise & Strategic Systems Support

• Leverages a deep, long-standing network of relationships—cultivated over many years across early intervention, psychology, special education, and education policy—to convene interdisciplinary experts and provide comprehensive, research-aligned guidance for complex learner and compliance needs.
• Provides strategic referral pathways and consultation for complex learner profiles, multi-agency coordination, and compliance requirements, ensuring accurate, timely, and legally sound support for families and schools.
